The picture of the Godess Kali was the inspiration for the famous Rolling Stones logo, designed by John Pasche in 1971. It was shown to the artist by Mick Jagger because he was looking for something similar. Of course the result was pretty different, but also wonderful. Thanks koldo, that's a great story. I see that the image you have is 'nearly' identical to this Kali. But if they were created as 'inexpensive souvenirs' I guess there would have been many handmade copies.

i love indian mythologie. these pictures are wonderful. i keep looking for interesting styles of depictions of these divinities and their stories. this blog is really great. i come here often for inspiration ;-)
