There’s an on-line exhibition about the work of Abraham Bosse at the BnF. I first saw the last of these etchings on a book-cover: I think it was an old Penguin edition of Bierce’s Devil’s Dictionary.

Thanks a lot for the link. I kind of 'made myself' not look around to see what else was online for these artists - I thought the photogravures themselves deserved a 'turn' as it were.

There was also the thought that I'd spent so much time paging through Posner Lib. only to be reproducing what's easily available at Artcylopedia or the like of course. But the book has a great selection with excellent printing quality.

So I'm glad to see another version of that Bosse image. I also see he did the engraving for Girard Desargues' perspective book.
