napfisk, it's a spam reduction method. It seems to work pretty well, although probably keeps the commenting level round these parts down a bit. Such is life.

Where exactly do these images come from? What century? Or are they recent? The link doesn't work anymore. Pretty, though.

Sarah, I see you're right: the original post seems to have died. But the http://ninthwavedesigns.com/ homepage is still there. You could just sift through the archives or write to them I guess. (they are fairly contemporary illustrations inspired by historical material I presume)
