I'm feeling better already about not having studied veterinary science. But these do bring back memories of an old encyclopedia we used to have with layers of transparent overlays of the different human bodily systems. Somehow it was lots of fun to examine the human animal that way. Then again, that was back when I was playing with Tinkertoys and bugging my parents for a cap pistol...
Hi - just discovered your blog, and it looks and reads fantastically well. Do some of these wallcharts (e.g. the cow) have overlays so you can see different anatomical features on different sheets?
Ahhhh, Karla, you obviously mean sex education n'est-ce pas?
Marmath I think some of these are flip books rather than overlays -- the cow pictures with the red line across the centre: you turn the page to get the next cross section view.
hi peacay,
a friend of mine has an actual
18th century bible that she inherited from her grandfather. it has these awesome, passionate illustrations by gustave dore on the fragile yellow pages, which had me enthralled. when i returned home, i looked up more stuff on the net. but really, imagine illustrations like these on beautiful old paper!

Had Blogger implemented its subscribe-to-comments feature earlier, I daresay I would have responded to that awhile back.
The sex education hasn't ended yet. Even in Czech.
