Another great set of images: the ‘Ripley-Rolle’ picture is from a manuscript copy of the Ripley Scroll.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. I gave up on the 'ripley' search - too many Aliens and other movie refs.
ReplyDeletegreat set of images!
ReplyDeleteThe image by Swedenborg looks quite a lot like an investigation of lines of magnetic force or maybe electric potential, which is a more scientific subject than the more alchemical topics in the other pictures. Which would make sense, since Swedenborg was originally a scientist... Although according to his wiki bio, he later went off the rails a bit and believed that "he was appointed by the Lord to write a heavenly doctrine to reform Christianity [&] claimed that the Lord had opened his eyes, so that from then on he could freely visit heaven and hell, and talk with angels, demons, and other spirits."
ReplyDeleteSo it could be that, too.
Either way, fascinating stuff. Very glad to have come across this blog!
